Much of the basic porting work is now complete, to the point that recently katepart can be compiled without Qt3 support classes. There is however much testing to be done, and new features planned include support of BiDi, full accessibility support, but we need to take care that scripting and other stuff will be done for KDE 4, too.
Additionally, the KTextEditor interface has seen much improvement, including consolidation and cleaning of interfaces, and much improved API documentation (thanks especially to Dominik).
As the KDE 4 release will be the next major step in the KDE development, we need to come up with plans what we want to achieve with the Kate Application in this release.
The first step, the pure porting of the application is already finished, at least the biggest parts are already done, Kate is again usable with qt4 & kdelibs4. Now we need to come up with some design papers how the application should look in the KDE 4 timeframe, which interfaces it should provide for the plugins, which scripting language we chose, which GUI changes we want, ...
